As Mayor of the City of Perry, I would like to welcome you to our website. Perry has been designated one of Iowa's "Great Places" and I invite you to learn more about our progressive community. From the "Bike Ride to Rippey" otherwise known as BRR ( or the Winter RAGBRAI Reunion) in February, the Friday Fests with live music and a mouth-watering variety of foods, our old fashioned 4th of July Celebration to our Latino Festival and the annual Lighted Christmas Parade in November, we have a rich tradition of events for our residents and visitors to enjoy.
The City of Perry has begun a multi-million dollar renovation of our downtown area, beginning at the area surrounding the historic Carnegie Library Museum. We have enhanced our downtown with a beautiful streetscape project, which includes a bocce ball court at the Josh Davis Plaza. Many of our buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
We have a strong commitment to offer many recreational activities to our residents and visitors. Caboose Park at 1st Street and Willis Avenue is the trail head of the in-town portion of the Raccoon River Valley Recreational Trail which connects to the loop of 89 miles of trails that pass through nine towns and three counties.
Firms looking to expand will find that Perry's skilled labor force, convenient access to major transportation routes, and the community's proactive approach to economic development gives Perry a competitive advantage over other communities in the region.
For those residents who have already settled into the community, and to those people who may be interested in making Perry your home, I encourage you to browse our site to find out more about what Perry has to offer. If you have questions, please feel free to contact City Hall at (515)465-2481.
I hope our website provides you with beneficial information and assists you in understanding why Perry is such a "Great Place". The City of Perry is dedicated to providing efficient, quality service by working in partnership with individuals, organizations and businesses, to enhance the quality of life and create a healthy, vibrant community in which to live, work and visit.
Sincerely,
Jay Pattee
