About Us
The five members of Perry’s Tree Board must reside in the Perry Community School District and are appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Perry City Council. The individuals serving on this board are not compensated for the three year term for which they serve.
Before removing or planting trees in the “parking”, the area lying between the curb and the sidewalk, Perry City Hall should be contacted for planting restrictions.
It is the responsibility of the owner of a property to keep the trees on, or overhanging the street to keep their trees trimmed so that all branches will be at least thirteen (13) feet above the surface of the street and nine (9) feet above the sidewalks. If the property owner fails to comply the City may do the work and charge the trimming fees against the property owner’s taxes (Cod of Iowa, Sec. 364.12(2c, d & e)). The same is true of a tree located on private property that is inspected and considered dangerous. (Code of Iowa, Sec. 364.12(3b & h)).
For further information regarding rules and regulations that apply to tree planting, trimming, removal, prohibited trees or contractor requirements please review Chapter 151 of the City of Perry Code of Ordinances, 2001.

Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month April - December at 4:00 P.M. at City Hall, 1102 Willis Avenue.
