Mission Statement
The Perry Public Library is a municipal facility, which welcomes and serves people of all ages and gives them the means to continue to learn throughout their lives. Through the library, people in the community may:
- develop, encourage, and stimulate their reading and learning skills and interests;
- enjoy reading, viewing, and listening to a wide array of materials;
- find, evaluate, and use information in a variety of formats; and
- better understand their personal heritage.

Who can obtain a Perry Public Library card?
Anyone who is a resident of the City of Perry, or live in the unincorporated areas of Dallas County. In addition, the Perry Public Library participates in the State Library of Iowa program, Open Access. Open Access allows anyone who has lives in a participating Library jurisdiction to obtain a Perry Public Library card. Of the 543 public libraries in Iowa, 529 of these libraries participate in Open Access. This program also allows a Perry Public Library cardholder to obtain a library card from anyone of the other 528 participating libraries.
What do you need to get a library card?
To obtain a library card, an eligible borrower fills out an application form whereby they agree to obey all rules and regulations of the Library. The application includes:
a full written signature
permanent home address
birth date
telephone number
Children who have not reached seventh grade must have a parent or guardian sign their application card.
Full library privileges will be granted upon receipt of a library card following a probationary period. To receive a card, a person must be able to verify their address.
Need:
(1) photo ID with current address, usually a driver’s license, and
(2) a piece of mail with your name and address on it.
Library cards are issued for one year. Upon expiration, the card may be renewed after registration information is verified, and charges, if any, are paid.
What does a library card cost?
The first one is free, replacement cards are $4.
Can I use a computer?
Public Access Computers are available to everyone at no cost but you must have less that $5 of fines.
Do we have WiFi?
Yes and it is available 24 hours a day.
May I renew my library materials over the phone?
Yes
How many movies can I check out a one time?
If you are a new patron you may check out 2 movies. Once you have passed through the new patron probationary period, an adult may check out 5 non-G rated movies and 5 G-rated movies.
How do I download free audiobooks and ebooks?
