Cemetery Fees/Rates
Established beginning May 7, 2018.
1. The costs below denote that the funeral director, family and friends must leave the cemetery to allow for the grave to be closed by the times listed.
2. Anyone wishing to have grave openings that will occur after the posted times below will need to contact the Violet Hill Cemetery Supervisor to plan for the additional costs.
3. Anyone wishing to have grave openings that will occur after the posted times below will pay an additional fee of $50 per every half-hour after the posted times.
4. No funerals may take place before 7:00 a.m. or after 5:00 p.m. on Monday through Saturday. No funerals may take place on Sundays.
5. No funerals may take place on the Memorial Day extended weekend. This shall include Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
6. Funeral directors are required to notify the Violet Hill Cemetery Supervisor forty-eight (48) working hours in the frost season/winter as to the time of the burial. In non-frost months, notification of twenty-four (24) hours is required.
7. In this resolution, holidays are defined as New Year's Day, Presidents' Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, the Friday after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
8. Payments for grave openings are due prior or at the time of burial. A late payment fee of $30.00 will be assessed if payment is not received within thirty (30) days of burial.

Regulations
- Work to be approved. Lot owners may have planting or other work done on their lots at their expense on application to the Cemetery Supervisor. No workers other than employees of the Violet Hill Cemetery shall be admitted to the cemetery except with the consent of the Cemetery Supervisor.
- Iron or Wire Work. No iron or wire work will be allowed upon lots except by permission and when any iron or wire articles begin to rust, the same shall be required to be repaired or repainted or removed from the cemetery.
- Interment Limited. All interments in lots shall be restricted to the family of the lot owner except by consent of lot owner.
- Disinterment. No disinterment shall be allowed without the permission of the lot owner or legal representative and certificate as required by law.
- Burial Request. Requests for burial must be made no less than twenty-four (24) hours in advance during non-frost seasons and forty-eight (48) hours during frost seasons.
- Sunday Interment Prohibited. No bodies shall be interred in the Violet Hill Cemetery on any Sunday.
- Vaults. No vaults shall be permitted to be built unless the designs for the same are exceptionally good, and the construction is solid and thorough, and the designs are submitted to and approved by the cemetery committee.
- Roads and Walks. It is the duty and right of the cemetery committee from time to time to lay out and alter roads, driveways, walks and alleys, and to make such rules and regulations as they may deem proper.
- Enclosures. Stone or other enclosures around graves are prohibited and the mounds over graves shall be regulated by the Cemetery Supervisor. No above ground vaults or mausoleums shall be built or erected.
- Foundations. As a guarantee of good work, and as a protection to all lot holders, and for the general welfare of the Violet Hill cemetery, the Cemetery Department reserves the right to regulate all work done in the cemetery under the following conditions:
- All work on foundations or memorial work shall be done within the working hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except holidays. All work must be done only with the knowledge of the Cemetery Supervisor. All unsatisfactory work will be required to be replaced.
- Foundations for all monumental and superstructural work must comply with all specifications as described in the City of Perry codified ordinance available in the Cemetery Supervisor’s Office. Variances may be made by the Cemetery Supervisor.
- The bottom base of all monumental work must be squared sufficiently to allow it to rest on the foundation in its proper position, as no wedging or underpinning will be allowed.
- Orders for memorial work of any kind will not be honored on lots not paid for.
- No person shall erect, have erected, or attempt to erect, or build any foundation or base for monumental or superstructural work in Violet Hill Cemetery, except with the permission of the Cemetery Supervisor.
- Precast tops on all foundations are required with a minimum of 4” flange on all four (4) sides of the monument.
- Burial Reports. Burial reports are required to be submitted to both the Cemetery Supervisor and the City Clerk prior to burial at Violet Hill Memorial Cemetery.
- Burials Permitted Per Space. Violet Hill Cemetery permits the burial of one full burial and one cremain burial per space. Two cremain burials are also permitted on one space.
- Pre-Burial Payments. No burial will be permitted in Violet Hill Cemetery without payment in full for the cemetery space.
- Cemetery Regulations Regarding Grave Decorations.
- April 1 – November 15. Decorations must be contained in a vase, on on the stone, or on an ornamental lawn hook. Ornamental lawn hooks may be a maximum of four feet tall and ornaments on the hook must be at least 18 inches off the ground.
- EXCEPTIONS:
- Memorial Day – Decorations allowed 10 days before and removed 7 days following.
- Mothers Day and Fathers Day – Decorations allowed 5 days before and removed 5 days following.
- November 15 – April 1. Decorations placed on graves after November 15 at least until April 1.. Whenever reasonably possible, the City of Perry staff will provide a public service announcement at least 48 hours prior to removing decorations. The announcement will be provided to KDLS radio station, Pegasus local access cable TV and the Perry Chief newspaper.
- EXCEPTIONS:
- Organization Emblems. There is no restriction on organization emblems
- Currently placed beside the headstones of deceased members for the Odd Fellows, Rebekahs, the American Legion, or the Perry Fire Department. Flags placed on the emblems will be allowed consistent with Memorial Day regulations stated above.
