Yard MaintenanceGrass and Weeds | Code Section 52.03
Grass, weeds or brush may not exceed 8 inches in Residential, Business and Commercial Areas and 15 inches in Agricultural Areas. Any property within the City of Perry, whether vacated or non-vacated, with grass, weeds or brush over the limits on the first (1st) Wednesday of the month and the third (3rd) Wednesday of the month in the months of May, June, July, August, September and October, will be mowed by the City of Perry AND will be charged a fee. If payment is not received, the cost will be assessed to the property. It is unlawful to throw or deposit on any street or alley any grass clippings, leaves, or yard waste. (Code Section 135.03) Tree Regulations | Code Section 151 The property owner of the abutting property shall keep the trees on, or overhanging the street, trimmed so as to allow free passage of pedestrians and vehicular travel, and so they will not obstruct or shade the street lights, the vision of traffic signs or the view of any street intersection. All branches will be at least thirteen (13) feet above the surface of the street and nine (9) feet above the sidewalks. Planting restrictions and species of trees/ shrubs planted within the parking (area between the curb and sidewalk) is regulated by Code Section 151. Please refer to this section prior to any plantings within the parking. Sidewalk Regulations | Code Section 136.04 It is the responsibility of the abutting property owners to maintain in a safe and hazard-free condition any sidewalk outside the lot and property lines and inside the curb lines or traveled portion of the public street. Solid Waste
Disposal Required | Code Section 105.03
It is the duty of each owner to provide for the sanitary disposal of all refuse accumulating on the owner's premises before it becomes a nuisance. Any such accumulation remaining on any premises for a period of more than thirty (30) days shall be deemed a nuisance and the City may proceed to abate such nuisances. Solid Waste Collection Residential garbage will be picked up by automated trucks using a mechanical arm. Residential garbage collection service utilizes the City issued GREEN TRASH CONTAINERS. Place your container out for pick up before 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. Containers may only be placed out for collection no more than twenty-four (24) hours BEFORE scheduled pick-up and no more than twelve (12) hours AFTER pick-up. Please do not overfill your container! The lid on the container should be closed. Please use bags inside of the container. Loose garbage may blow around and cause a mess in your neighborhood. Place your container in front of your property, either in the driveway or on the parking, unless you receive a letter from the City of Perry stating that it should be placed in a different location. DO NOT place the cart in the street. Place the cart with the handle facing your home and the metal bar facing the street. The container must have a 4-foot clearance around it to be picked up in a safe and proper manner. DO NOT PLACE THE CONTAINER NEAR MAILBOXES, PARKED CARS, UTILITY POLES, TREES/BRUSH OR OTHER ITEMS THAT PREVENT CLEAR ACCESS TO THE CONTAINER. Collection of Fees | Code Section 106.07 Regular scheduled residential garbage pickup fees are included in the monthly water bill issues by the Perry Water Works. It is mandatory that anyone on the Perry Municipal Water System be charged for solid waste collection. |
Snow RemovalSidewalk Regulations | Code Section 136.03
It is the responsibility of the abutting property owners t remove snow, ice and accumulations promptly from sidewalks. If a property owner in the residential distric does not remove snow, ice or accumulations within forty-eight (48) hours from when snow, ice or accumulations cease to fall, the City may do so and assess the costs against the property owners for collection in the same manner at property taxes. If a property owner in the business distrcit does not remove snow, ice or accumulations within twelve (12) hours from when snow, ice or accumulations cease to fall, the City may do so and asses the costs against the property owners for collection in the same manner as property taxes.. Street Parking | Code Section 69.13 No person shall park, abandon or leave unattended any vehicle on any public street, alley or city-owned off-street parking area during snow emergency unless the snow has been removed or plowed from such street, alley, or parking area, and the snow has ceased to fall. A snow emergency shall be defined as any accumulation of snow in the amount of on-half ince, or any amount in excess thereof. A snow emergency-parking ban shall continue from its inception through the duration of the snow or ice storm and the forth-eight (48) hour time perioud after cessation of the storm except as above proveded upon streets, which have been fully opened. |

The owner shall place or cause to be installed and maintained on the principal building the assigned number in a conspicuous place to the street in figures not less than two and on-half (2 1/2) inches in height and of a contrasting color with their background. |
