About Us
The Perry Municipal Airport is located three miles west of Perry. The Perry Municipal Airport has two runways one of which is paved with two approaches while the other is a turf runway. Perry Municipal Airport houses 19 aircraft, three of which are jet fueled planes. Amenities offered at the facility include 24 hour per day fueling, 100 octane and jet fuel, aircraft parking and tie down, long term vehicle parking, a passenger terminal and lounge, a courtesy car, and aviation maintenance if needed.
The Perry Municipal Airport is governed by the Airport Commission of three resident voters of the City of Perry and two at-large individuals who are appointed by the Perry City Council for staggered four year terms. The members of the commission are not compensated for the services that they provide. From the five member commission the members elect a Chairperson who serves a term that is decided by the Commission. In an effort to insure continuity and protect historical records of the Perry Municipal Airport, the Perry City Clerk provides the secretarial services for the commission.
The duties and powers of the Perry Airport Commission are covered in Chapter 26 of the City of Perry Code of Ordinances, 2001. The Commission has all powers related to airports as granted under the State law (Code of Iowa, Sec. 330.21) with the exception that the commission cannot sell the airport. The Perry Airport Commission annually certifies the amount of tax to be levied for airport purposes by working with the City of Perry Financial Officer and Perry City Council. The funding is then certified with the annual City of Perry Budget.
The Perry Airport Commission and the Perry City Council are committed to airport improvements to accommodate the aeronautical demands of Dallas County. Due to increases in employment and the population growth within the Des Moines metropolitan area, the Perry Municipal Airport has experienced an increase in operational activity as well as increased demand for aircraft storage space.
Recent projects completed to the Perry Municipal Airport include a newly constructed corporate 100x100 hangar.
Active improvements to the facility include; Runway 14/32 Relocation and Extension Project, Apron Expansion, Fuel Facility Upgrade, and Terminal Restroom Remodel.
