3rd Ward City Council Candidate Information
The 3rd Ward City Council Position will be on the General Election ballot, held on November 6th, 2012. This position was appointed after a vacancy and the term will expire on December 31, 2015. Interested candidates must fill out a candidate’s affidavit and nomination papers, which can be picked up at the Office of the City Clerk, 1102 Willis Avenue, 3rd Floor or on the City website at www.perryia.org. Deadline for filing is Tuesday, August 28th, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at the Office of the City Clerk.
Eligible candidates must be an eligible elector in the Third Ward of the City of Perry at the time of the election. An eligible elector meets all of the requirements to register to vote but does not have to be registered to vote. An eligible elector must be a citizen of the United States, be a resident of Iowa AND be at least 18 years old. An eligible elector may not be a convicted felon (unless voting rights have been restored by the president or governor), be currently judged incompetent to vote by a court OR claim the right to vote in any other place.
